Program Note
In December of 2025, I had the opportunity to take a trip to the city of Chicago with a group of close friends. I’ve always had a love for the city and something we had a strong affinity for was the public transportation. Growing up in the Texas suburbs, we don’t get a lot of buses or trains to take us from place to place. Having a car is a necessity so having the chance to explore a place on our feet felt very freeing; the public transportation was not only incredibly convenient, but it was just peek into another world of life and culture that we didn’t grow up with. I loved my time in Chicago and as I was sketching ideas for this piece I came to realize what I ended up naming Public Transit was in essence a love letter to the city of Chicago. Not only to the busses and trains, but the wonderful people I got to meet and the beautiful and lively city of Chicago.
