Mist

As I explore music, I’ve had a thing for experimenting with different colors and textures. I wanted to write where rather than melody being the driving force the piece, its textures. From the beginning, I knew I wanted to highlight the full expressive range of the trombone, an instrument capable of both, lyrical beauty and raw, powerful aggression. Mist, puts an emphasis on texture and harmony, putting you in a place where you almost get lost in sound. This piece takes these ideas from the softest most intimate sounds and stretches them to gnarly and aggressive noise you can get out of a trombone really exploring the sonic capabilities of the trombone.
